Life has been happening. We have been trying to live it which has led to spending less time writing about it. Living it is very, very challenging, with leukemia hanging in the wings. Nevertheless, it is our goal.
Later today, Aila and Brian will travel to UCSF where they will access her port and infuse vincristine. She will scream violently during the access, but then calm without too much trouble within about 20 minutes. Brian will be traumatized, but Aila will likely barely remember. Later, we'll give her dexamethasone (the steroid) and ripseridone (the antipsychotic). And we'll wait to see what happens. We are ready to lose our baby girl again and welcome her alien counterpart for 8-14 days, while her body absorbs and recovers from the shock of the drugs. But maybe this time will be different? And maybe not, but either way Aila is continuing along the leukemia highway.
